self love portraits

Following the sucess of The Collage Workshop, we will be hosting the second in our series of art workshops, which will be facilitated by painter and RIOT SOUP member Salma Istwani.

The theme of this workshop will be "self love portraits" and during the 90 minutes we will explore how painting self portraits can add to and improve the lens through which we view, appreciate and love ourselves.

All works will be created on paper and a range of materials including acrylic paints, palettes and brushes will be provided. If you wish to bring any specific materials for reference (such as pictures or a mirror) please feel free to bring these along with you.

We aim for the workshop to be a fun and relaxed space for women of colour to come together, get creative and feel comfortable enough to express their authentic selves through art.

On International Women's Day 2019 our recently established visual art collective RIOT SOUP will be opening our first group exhibition to the public. The theme is celebrating and showcasing women artists of colour from a variety of BME backgrounds. We have come together to take charge of our representation in the arts industry and reclaim the narrative surrounding women of colour in the UK. Our aim is to create opportunities and exposure for our group and cause, while building a strong network and community of like-minded creative people.
Our disciplines range from digital illustration to photography to collage to paint and the exhibition will be free for all to visit througout the weekend. The gallery will be open from 11am to 5pm and your Eventbrite ticket, permits entry anytime between these hours. Hope to see you there!
